Shrove Tuesday 2017

SHROVE TUESDAYShrove Tuesday or Pancake Tuesday is celebrated by Christians on the day before Ash Wednesday – the beginning of Lent. “Shrove” comes from a word that means to have our sins forgiven.
A long time ago people didn’t eat any eggs, milk or oil during Lent – these are the ingredients used in pancakes and Shrove Tuesday or Pancake Tuesday became a time when pancakes were made so as not to waste any food supplies.
Lent is the time when we prepare for Easter and also when we commit to fasting and abstaining from some luxuries and so Pancakes are eaten on the day before our Lenten season of 40 days begins.
Mix a pancake, stir a pancake,
Pop it in a pan. Fry the pancake, toss the pancake
Catch it if you can!!!
